Incredible opportunity to do something together to help families practice their English and build relationships.
From Rebecca Larson
Hello all. I am now writing to say that the English Café is going to happen every Monday morning between July and August. Please note the change of location (from my previous email) to the Wilmot Family Resource Centre in New Hamburg. This is an incredible opportunity to do something together to help families practice their English and build relationships.
The English Café is jointly sponsored by the Wilmot Family Resource Centre (WFRC) and Wilmot refugee sponsorship churches and groups - that is us! It is being advertised in our Wilmot Refugee Welcome website (thank you Nigel!) and has been sent to the Independent. Please also share this information in your churches and group communications.
The purpose of this email is to give you all the final information and to ask for volunteers for the adult conversation. I really hope you will consider getting involved - we need you! This is happening kind of quickly, and July 4 is coming soon. So far we have coordinators for each week except July 4, and one volunteer for most Mondays (Katherine from St. Georges)
The job is simply to show up and participate in conversation and a meal with these new members in our community. There will be leaders on hand to guide the conversations and activities but having volunteer English speakers also involved is very important for those learning.
July 4 – August 15 at Wilmot Family Resource Centre 175 Waterloo Street, New Hamburg
Interested to volunteer? Please contact Becki Larson at moc.oohay@nosralikceb to indicate when you can come. It would be great if we could have 4-5 volunteers for each Monday. Fine to do one, two or more Mondays. Dates are:
Thanks all! Looking forward to hearing from each of you soon! Special thanks to Trisha from WFRC for making it happen!
